 Poets' A-Z » Al-Saddiq Al-Raddi

Al-Saddiq Al-Raddi was born in 1969 and grew up in Omdurman, a city on the Nile opposite Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. His first book of poems, Songs of Solitude, was first published in 1996. He has also published The Sultan's Labyrinth (1996) and The Far Reaches of the Screen… (1999 and 2000). Al-Saddiq bridges African experience and Arabic language in poems that avoid the temptation of the public voice in favour of a delicate lyricism. He writes in Arabic and is currently translated by Hafiz Kheir and Mark Ford.
