A-Z » Donald Adamson
Donald Adamson was born and brought up in Dumfries, and now lectures in Helsinki University. Recent publications include The Gift of Imperfect Lives (Markings Publications, 2002) and a poem on the Iraq war called 'Collateral Damage' (in co-authorship with the Solway Festival Poets, 2004). He translated a selection of Finnish poems for How to address the fog: XXV Finnish poems 1978-2002 (Carcanet/Scottish Poetry Library, 2005), part of the XXV European Originals series of bilingual anthologies; co-founded ‘Markings’ and has won several poetry competitions. His poem ‘Fause Prophets’, which in 1999 won the Herald Millennium Poetry Competition, is buried in a time capsule under the walls of the Scottish Poetry Library.
