| The anonymous-submissions poetry magazine Anon is looking for a new editor.
Founded in 2003 and edited since then by the poet and novelist Mike Stocks [www.mikestocks.com], Anon has been an interesting addition to the poetry magazine scene, introducing a blind-assessment system to the editing of a national poetry magazine.
The magazine and its future direction will be handed over in its entirety -- including its small but healthy bank balance -- to the new editor; Mike has no plans to remain behind the scenes. However he is happy to school the new editor through the production process, or any other aspect of the enterprise, if necessary.
Mike says: "I did a good job of setting up this magazine at a time when the merits of anonymous submission procedures did not seem obvious to many. Since then, Anon has proven itself to be a magazine that poets love to get into, and several bigger, better established magazines have employed some or all of its 'anonymous' aspects in their own submissions procedures. But lately I am not doing the magazine justice. Never a natural at admin, marketing or reliability -- editing and production are my strong points -- I'm letting things slip. If necessary I'll close the magazine down, but I'd prefer to find an energetic replacement to continue and hopefully improve Anon."
Applicants are welcome from all fields but are likely to have a demonstrable record in writing, and/or reading and/or publishing good poetry. Anyone interested should in the first instance read Anon thoroughly (available in the SPL) or from www.blanko.org.uk/anon, and write to Mike at
mike@mikestocks.com with a little bit of background on yourself.
