 Enquiries

The Scottish Poetry Library is pleased to provide a comprehensive enquiry service on poets and poetry from Scotland and around the world.

Poetry lovers, publishers, scholars and schools all make of use our expertise and resources.

Try checking our online catalogue first if, for example, you need to know what the Library holds on or by a particular author. If you need more information, we will do what we can to help.

Other poetry enquiries

Enquiries typically fall into one of the following categories:

  • biographical, bibliographical, or critical information on a poet
  • copyright information
  • poems on a particular subject
  • poems suitable for readings at special occasions
  • poetry in translation

You can make enquiries by post or phone, or email.

Find a forgotten poem

The type of request we most frequently receive is for help in tracking down a poem that is half remembered, half lost, and wholly frustrating!

We can often trace these elusive fragments, but anything we can't find is now displayed in our Lost for words section. So if your recollection - and our resources - fail, let us tap into the global memory; it may be that someone on the other side of the world has the answer.

We have listed some of the most commonly requested poems on our Frequently requested poems page.
