The Edwin Morgan Archive team draws on various sources for the skills needed, and includes SPL staff, a web designer, and a short-term cataloguer, as well as a team of volunteers.

Curator

Julie Johnstone

Julie JohnstoneJulie is the Librarian of the Scottish Poetry Library. With the SPL since 2000, she holds an MSc in Library and Information Services from Robert Gordon University. Julie has a particular interest in small press publishing and runs her own imprint, Essence Press.

Julie is responsible for the overall management of the Edwin Morgan Archive project, and oversees the preservation, storage and cataloguing of the archive, working closely with Neil Simpson Architects in the building of a dedicated area for its study.

Ken Cockburn

Poet Ken CockburnKen is a poet and writer, whose varied experience includes work for touring theatre companies and art galleries, and as Assistant Director and Fieldworker at the Scottish Poetry Library from 1996 to 2004. He now focuses on freelance writing, and in 2006 was appointed the first writer-in-residence at the National Library of Scotland's John Murray Archive. Ken has published two collections of poems, and one of translations of contemporary German poems.

Ken is responsible for facilitating focus groups with teachers, schoolchildren, students, writers, and others interested in the Edwin Morgan Archive, and for developing and writing material for the online archive resource.

Web Designer

 

Mary Hutchison, illustration and designWith a background in illustration, Mary now works full-time in web and e-learning design and development, with a particular interest in interface and learning object design. She has worked for the Scottish Poetry Library since 2001, and designs and produces many of the Scottish Poetry Library's online resources. Her work has a strong focus on usability and accessibility.

Mary is responsible for design and development of the online Edwin Morgan Archive resource.

Want to volunteer?

The Edwin Morgan Archive team draws on various skills, and includes Library staff, a freelance project co-ordinator, a web designer, and a short-term cataloguer, as well as a team of volunteers.

We are particularly looking for volunteers with previous experience in preservation or cataloguing, although other opportunities are also available. Training will be provided.
