Our award-winning building, located in Edinburgh's Canongate, houses a remarkable and unique collection of over 30,000 items from Scotland, Europe and beyond.

As well as books we have CDs, audio cassettes, DVDs, videos, and teaching resources. Our specially designed children's area provides a comfortable space for readings, and houses our junior collection which offers a wide range of anthologies and collections from poets writing for young people.

Free postal borrowing service

The Scottish Poetry Library has a large lending collection of poetry books, tapes, CDs, and teaching resources, and we provide a free postal borrowing service to teachers, trainee teachers and school librarians.

Teachers can borrow six books at a time, or more books can be borrowed by prior arrangement if you have a special project or event for example. You can browse our online catalogue, call or email us to request books.

To sign up, simply download the borrower's form below, fill it out, and post or fax to the Scottish Poetry Library.
