Poetry Day 2010 - Home National Poetry Day is Thursday October 7th 2010
This year's theme is Home. Every year, the Scottish Poetry Library runs a series of CPD sessions for teachers on How to Make the Most of National Poetry Day. Find out more and how to sign up here. And we produce a range of postcards featuring poems from Scottish poets on the theme of the year, which we send out to schools across Scotland. You will find teaching suggestions to accompany some of the National Poetry Day poems on this website. At Home with Poetry: Making the most of National Poetry DayCPD for Primary Teachers at the Scottish Poetry Library Feel at home with poetry.... A unique opportunity to meet and work with inspiring writer, poet and teacher Liz Niven at the Scottish Poetry Library to find out How to Make the Most of National Poetry Day in your classroom and school on the big day and beyond. (NPD 2010 is Thursday 7 October; the theme, Home.) With early access to this year's themed postcard-poems for children and young people, explore ways of learning and having fun with NPD and poetry across the curriculum, and get to grips with techniques for writing for, and with, your pupils. A practical, creative course for building your confidence, infusing the curriculum and enthusing your class, with poetry. Session also includes: resource pack Wednesday 15 September, 16.00-18.00, Level 2: P5-P7 teachers & learning assistants. Tuesday 21 September, 16.00-18.00, Level 1: P2-P4 teachers & learning assistants. Monday 27 September, 16.00-18.00, Early Level : Early Years teachers & learning assistants.
